This is excellent news for the Lib Dems. Moreover, I feel that this increasse in poll ratings is due to not only the leadership race but in particular the very convincing and humerous performances from Vince Cable Acting Leader. I think it is a good thing however that he is not standing because it just proves how much depth the Liberal Democrats actually have.

It is an absolute discrace what is going on in Sudan at the moment. The poor Mrs Gibbons only wanted to help and give her help to a poor comunity. I am appauled by the treatment she has recieved for allowing her class of pupils to call the class teddy bear, yes teddy bear muhammed. It does actually show how culture is so different in parts of the world. However it is certainly an OTT reaction by the Sudanese authorities. It really shows how far some countries are behind in their democracies, lets hope that the peers from parliament can come to an agreement on their visit.

Global businesses have called for a legally binding and comprehensive international deal on climate change.

A binding agreement on emissions reductions would encourage business to invest in low-carbon technologies, a statement from 150 businesses said.

The statement - backed by Prince Charles - will be sent to environment ministers and heads of state ahead of talks in Bali on climate change.

Nokia, Tesco, Lloyds TSB and Nike are among the 150 firms that made the call.
The signatories represent companies from Europe, the US, China and Australia.

Story from BBC- good to see big companies show some interest in climate change. Dont really know how Tescos can do this when they thrive off everybody driving to there mega supermarkets burning off who knows how much fuel in the process. Also taking smalls shops out of business when they are monopolising the supermarket 'market'.

Gordon Brown's competence as PM has come under fire during heated Commons exchanges following the donations row.

David Cameron said there had been "disaster after disaster" since Mr Brown took over, and asked if he was "cut out for the job". DONT LIKE CAMERON BUT HES RIGHT - doesnt seem to be the safe pair of hands

Lib Dem acting leader Vincent Cable said Mr Brown had gone "from Stalin to Mr Bean" in a matter of weeks.-

seems as though Brown is just hanging from a thread, and also seems to me that all he has to hold onto is his economic success as Chancellor. Hasnt mad the distinctive move to being a broad speaking PM.

I am going up for the Lib Dems, for us its 2 steps forward and one step back, for example the seats that you mentioned, however in my old mans constituency the council held its seats staying steady, wat is happening, one reason, funding, it simply isnt always there, it is right that we flood certain constituencies to win seats because its our way of proving ourselves but moreover getting media coverage.

Exactly Ned. The trouble is that when you pour the entire Norfolk LibDem party into Aylsham you win. But when Aylsham is fought on the same day as all the other elections, you lose a seat to the Tories. Look at the Clavering by-election - a narrow LibDem gain from the Tories in 05, lost back to the Tories at a by-election in May 07. Why? Because all the LibDems were off losing in South Norfolk, Yarmouth, Norwich, Breckland, West Norfolk etc etc

I believe it shows great potential for the Liberals in Norfolk . Broadland is a seat that can be won. April Pond is a good candidate with flair and her effort is second to none. Big up the effort. It could start a sweep of orange in the county. !!!

Councillor Anthony Little believes the task of the Liberals in Norfolk is a tough one that will take resources that the liberals dont have.

Nick Clegg has got to be the leader of the Liberal Democrats. It is important for the party that they select a leader that can empower people from outside the party. It is important to get the best possible person to do this. Nick is a communicator and his speech at Norman Lambs Annual Dinner was impressive and convincing. He is bright, he speaks 5 languages. He speaks straight and isnt going to mix up his own party like Chris Huhne has and put obsticles infront of the LDs future road. ''Calamity Clegg'' is rubbish. A personal communcator who has the image and the mind to bring the LDs forward.
